I made this video to help people choose and maintain a good used (even new as sometimes they have issues too) 12 string acoustic guitar. Most salespeople won’t tell you any of this stuff…some don’t know it, some won’t take the time, some are trying to sell you a guitar with issues…sales in most stores is just a numbers game…sell the most at the most profit…few take the time to actually listen to what the customer wants (and can afford) and focus only on what they have and what makes the most for them. This video should help you avoid a guitar with issues and/or help you keep your guitar from developing any. If I forgot anything, just ask…

This is me suppose to be practicing on my 6 string IBANEZ SR 506 but I found a nice patch on my YAMAHA MO6 and I had to jam with it for a little while. Oh I’ve been playing bass for 1 year and 2 month! I started playing AUGUST 28th 2007!

Here’s a nice old Takamine 12-String Acoustic guitar for you to check out. These are Rosewood back and sides, a Mahogany neck with a Rosewood fingerboard and bridge and a Solid Spruce top…these older ones were made in Japan. I’ll be listing this on eBay in a no games, no hidden reserve auction starting at $399.99 including shipping for the Continental US. If you can get to me before I start the auction or before a bid is placed…make me a good offer and I’ll forget about the auction…once a bid has been placed I always let it ride. Millions of people own acoustic guitars, but not many know much about how they generate tone, how they are built and maintained, or how they can be adjusted to improve tone, responsiveness or playability. Many guitarists have questions about proper care – or whether and when their instrument needs a visit to the repair shop – but don’t have access to skilled luthiers to ask such questions.
Marty Lanham is Nashville’s “go to guy” when delicate repair or restoration is needed on fine acoustic guitars. Prominent guitarists in country and bluegrass music rely on Marty for regular maintenance, and many use his handmade guitars on stage and in the studio. On this DVD, Marty shares his many years of experience as a luthier to help you get to know, and understand the acoustic guitar.
Marty provides an overview of the many component parts of the steel string guitar, describing what each contributes to the overall sound. You’ll get to see the body of a guitar before it is assembled, and a number of disassembled guitars in the shop for repair. He then describes some of the most common guitar maintenance and repair issues, and how you can both spot and prevent them.
Symptoms of fret wear, loose braces, bridge plate wear, bride pulling up, and neck twist and warpage are among the topics covered in detail, with many close ups.
